순천 매화향기 가득한 홍매화 명소 순천복음교회 Suncheon Gospel Church Red plum blossoms

드디어 봄꽃들이 개화하기 시작했어요!

올해는 개화시기가 참 늦다.  원래대로라면 2월 말 매화부터 시작해서 개나리 목련 유채꽃 보러 다니느라 정신없었을 텐데 3월 중순이 되었는데도 매화꽃은 감감무소식이다. 매화축제로 유명한 광양 매화마을은 축제기간 중인데도 매화 개화율이 20~30%밖에 안된다고 한다. 이상기온을 다시 한번 느껴보는 요즘이다. 그래도 꽃놀이가 가고 싶어서 광양 근처인 순천에 알아보니 홍매화가 70% 이상 개화했다는 곳을 알아냈고 바로 어제 2025년 3월 14일 금요일에 방문했다.

If it were normal, I would have been busy going around to see plum blossoms at the end of February, forsythia, magnolia, and rape blossoms, but it is already mid-March and there is no news of plum blossoms. Gwangyang Plum Village, famous for its plum blossom festival, says that only 20-30% of the plum blossoms have bloomed even during the festival period. These days, I feel the abnormal temperature once again. But I still want to go see the flowers, so I looked into Suncheon, near Gwangyang, and found out that over 70% of the red plum blossoms have bloomed, and I visited yesterday, Friday, March 14, 2025.

순천 홍매화로 유명한 순천복음교회. 사실 별 기대 없이 갔는데 도착하자마자 우와~ 감탄이 절로 나왔다. 입구부터 빨갛고 분홍분홍한 홍매화로 가득했고 은은한 매화향기와 잔잔한 CCM 음악까지 분위기가 아주 봄스러웠다.

I actually went there without much expectation, but as soon as I arrived, I exclaimed, “Wow!” From the entrance, it was filled with red and pink red plum blossoms, and the gentle scent of plum blossoms and soft CCM music made the atmosphere very spring-like.

The Suncheon Gospel Church photo zone is already famous on Instagram. There is a row of red plum blossoms behind a small lake and you can even see the pretty church building, so it was definitely a photo zone.

매화동산. 자그마한 동산을 둘러싸고 있는 매화나무들이 거의 만개했고 이 날 바람이 많이 불었는데 꽃잎이 흩날리기 시작했다. 정말 예뻤다.

Plum blossom orchard. The plum trees surrounding the small orchard were almost in full bloom, and the wind was blowing hard that day, so the petals began to flutter. It was really pretty.

이렇게 몽글몽글 풍성한 매화꽃은 처음 본다. 멀리서 보니 겹벚꽃인 줄 알았다.

It's my first time seeing such fluffy and lush plum blossoms. From a distance, I thought they were double cherry blossoms.

이게 진짜 홍매화지! 선명한 빨간색의 매화 꽃잎이 눈을 자극했다.

This is a real red plum blossom! The vivid red plum blossom petals were a sight to behold.

홍매화만 있는 게 아니라 하얀 백매화도 있었다. 홍매화 사이에 몇 안 되는 백매화라 그런지 더 예뻐 보이고 특별해 보였다.

There were not only red plum blossoms, but also white plum blossoms. They looked even prettier and more special because they were one of the few white plum blossoms among the red plum blossoms.

다양한 봄색깔을 뽐내며 거의 만개한 매화꽃들. 오늘부터 비가 오고 기온이 뚝 떨어진다고 한다. 바람만 세게 불지 않으면 다음 주까지 예쁜 자태를 뽐내고 있지 않을까 생각한다. 홍매화부터 시작한 올해의 봄꽃나들이. 다음 차례의 봄꽃들도 얼른 개화하면 좋겠다.

Plum blossoms are almost in full bloom, showing off their various spring colors. They say it will rain starting today and the temperature will drop sharply.
